Preregistration is now closed, but you may still plan to attend and register at the event as a walk-on.

Held outside of Boonsboro, Maryland, The Summer of '62 event will depict the action at the Battle of Cedar Mountain, the birth of the Iron Brigade at the Battle of Brawner's Farm, and the Battle of Second Manassas, with unit specific scenarios based upon the Official Records and first person accounts.

Following up on the success of Fire on the Mountain in 2000 and To the Gates of Washington in 2004, this event is open to both Garrison and Campaign Impressions, with all standard safety and authenticity regulations enforced. Artillery and Mounted forces by invitation only in order to maintain correct force ratios. The event is restricted to 1500 participants.

The Federal Forces will be commanded by Kevin Air, with S. Chris Anders as Confederate Commander and reenactor coordinator.

Come out and join us in commemorating the actions occurring during the summer months of 1862, and help us preserve and educate this important moment in our history!

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Western Maryland Heritage Foundation and the Friends of South Mountain State Battlefield for preservation and interpretation. The event is operating on an all volunteer effort, with those working it doing so out of their love of history and their dedication to preservation.
