I. Professional behavior and appearance is required at all times during the 145th Anniversary South Mountain Battlefield Preservation March.

II. The Living History Association of Mecklenburg, Inc. (LHAM) has the exclusive right and privilege to make any judgment or determination regarding any aspect of the 145th Anniversary South Mountain Battlefield Preservation March.

III. Any participation in the 145th Anniversary South Mountain Battlefield        
March does so voluntarily and guarantees they are fully aware of the hazards of military reenacting and assumes all risks of injury therein, and promises their full compliance with the Laws of the State of Maryland and these regulations.

a. Participants shall indemnify and hold harmless the Living History Association of Mecklenburg, Inc. (LHAM), the Town of Boonsboro, the Central Maryland Heritage League, the Western Maryland Heritage Foundation, their respective Corporate Sponsors and Contributors, Rex Hovey, Geary Shafer and their successors, assigns, agents, officials, or any other entity from any special, punitive, incidental, exemplary or consequential damages, claims, suits, or causes of action resulting from any event, whether in contract, warranty, tort including without limitation negligence, strict liability or otherwise involving or arising from the 145th Anniversary South Mountain Battlefield Preservation March.

IV. Any individual by participating in any activity involving the 145th Anniversary South Mountain Battlefield Preservation March has by such actions, agreed to all terms and conditions set forth by this document.

V. All Participants:

a. All participants, military or civilian, must sign a wavier form.
b. Clothing shall be correct to 1862 period military or civilian design and made of appropriate natural fiber.  Cowboy boots, Indian clothing, buckskins, synthetics and other intrusions will not be allowed.
c. Uniform coats for military participants shall be made of jean cloth.  Shell jackets, Sack coats, early war Frock coats, Richmond Depot I & II.  Appropriate for the 1862 Maryland Campaign.
d. Footwear shall be of period design.  Black Sneakers, cowboy boots, moccasins, etc. Will not be permitted.
e. All infantry will have a clean three banded percussion musket or rifle.  No two banded rifles or carbines will be allowed.  Weapons will be INSPECTED.
f. No powder or caps are allowed on the South Mountain Battlefield by the National Park Service.

VI. General:

a. The property is privately owned.  All participants are to keep their area clean and place all trash in an appropriate container or designated area.
b. Beverages are to be consumed from period containers.  Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the march.

VII. Sponsorship:

a. The minimum amount of sponsorship is one dollar ($1.00) per mile.
b. A minimum total amount of contributions raised is fifty ($50.00) dollars.
c. 1st Prize for the largest contributions raised is a Handmade 1st National Flag valued at $350.00.
d. All contributions must be paid prior to the day of the 145th Anniversary South Mountain Battlefield Preservation March.

VIII. Registration & Check-in:

a. Each registrant is required to read these regulations and sign a statement to that affect.
b. Each registrant is required to read and sign a release and wavier of liability statement releasing the sponsors, contributors, and host of any liability or warranty.

IX. Amenities

a. Field provisions will be provided.
b. The LHAM will supply items such as apples, potatoes, corn, etc.
c. Water, firewood and toilet facilities will also be provided.
