AMBULANCE CORPS
John Novicki
"The Field Hospital" forms the nucleus of the Medical Staff of the Chesapeake Volunteer Guard. Founded in 1985, its members have always striven to increase the proper usage of the Medical Staff and to further develop the authenticity of the portrayal with ever improving materials and methods. At major events, it provides the framework that other serious medical interpreters may depend on.
With the 2007 season, "The Field Hospital" turns another page by introducing the first of several accurately reproduced, horse drawn, ambulances that will routinely appear with the group. This "Ambulance Corps" will work cooperatively with the Asst. Surgeon(s) and orderlies of the Regimental Aid Station. Of course, the Medical Staff will also be responsible for daily sick call, "hospital" duties and administrative routine both within, and without, the Chesapeake Volunteer Guard.
