Health Safety for At High Tide

Now is the time to begin walking at least a half an hour a day, an hour if you can.

Cut back on beer consumption, and start pumping good old H2O into your system. Often folks who go down from dehydration actually start the weekend already mildly dehydrated. Eight to ten 16-ounce glasses per day is the minimum you should consume in the three weeks prior to this (or any) event.

In your cartridge box tool pouch, put a list of current medications you are taking, and any alergies you might have.

Cut back on fat in your diet. Dropping five to ten pounds is easy to do for most men in three weeks, and it will pay off in huge dividends as you charge through the Wheatfield.

Stretch before and after any walking or running, and also consume bananas on a daily basis. This will help prevent cramping during periods of hard physical exertions.

We will be staging ice at the edge of the 'battlefield' and will have over ten gallons of water on site at all times per participant, as well as having two ambulances on site and numerous EMT's and RN's. But nothing enhances your Civil War experience like a ride in a 'Gator,' not to mention the effect it has on the period 'moment' for your comrades. Take ownership of your hobby and improve your impression by being physically able to perform, for your sake, and the other participants.

See you all soon!
