coordinator's message - looking '63 - camp of convenience

Message from Civilian Coordinator, Victoria Kent:

Welcome! We are glad you are interested in participating as a civilian in the At High Tide reenactment. “At High Tide” will provide an exciting experience for civilians. Unlike many reenactments which see civilians as only an accessory with little to do, we realize the significance and impact of civilians in reenacting. We hope this year to step up the quality of civilian participants in a chance for us all to learn and grow more with our hobby, while still honoring those who we remember.
We will be providing a variety of civilian activities that we hope you will enjoy. These will be announced and finalized with the finalization of the official event schedule. I look forward to working with each and every one of you. If there is anything you would like to see at this event please contact me via email and I will see what we can do to work together.

Best Regards,
Victoria Kent

Activities: TBA. Is there something you’d like to see? Contact us!

Authenticity Standards:

Please note that authenticity guidelines will be enforced for all participants. Participants who do not abide by these rules will be asked to remove the item in question or leave the event. This applies to civilians in the civilian camp and civilians in the “camp of convenience.” If at any time you have a question regarding the authenticity guidelines please contact the civilian coordinator. Event staff has final ruling in all discrepancies.

All modern items must be out of site at all times. Children must be appropriately outfitted for their age. Do research period hairstyles and practice before the event. Hair hanging down and pony tails do not count as period hairstyles. You must be in period dress from the start of the event to the finish.

Please let it be noted that there is NO place for the following at this event:
Snoods,
Ball gowns – evening and day dresses are acceptable attire for the dance; its NOT a ball
Blouse/skirt combinations
Nail polish
Sneakers/tennis shoes
Children in military attire
Synthetic materials
MODERN HAIRSTYLES (including bangs)
Obvious make up
Sunglasses
modern toys outside of your tent (we understand children often have that one thing they can't live without)
Modern Jewelry, earings, and wrist watches.
Hats on women beyond mid 20's

If you have any questions about any of these points PLEASE feel free to contact the civilian coordinator.

Camping Arrangement: Two camping opportunities will be available for civilians. Civilians may either camp in the Camp of Convenience or Civilian camp. Please specify on your registration form where you will be staying. Additional authenticity requirements will be required for civilians staying in civilian camp. Please check back shortly for updates regarding this.
